TRI TECH AUTOMOTIVE COURSE OUTLINE

First Semester: All first Semester students are required to complete The Following Subject areas.

Introduction to Automotive

Safety

Edited Notes, Daily Plans, Step By Step writing plans, Journals

Unit 1 Basics Skills

Unit 2 Automotive Maintenance

Unit 3 Tire Repairs

Unit 4 Exhaust Systems

Brakes

Basic Electrical

Electron Theory and Electrical Measuring Equipment

All Students are required to turn in a copy of edited notes for every

Classroom session, Multimedia, and manuals for each area.

There will be three written and three oral reports due for each area.

 

Grading

A= 95 to 100

B= 85 to 94

C= 75 to 84

D= 70 to 74

 

All shop tasks are graded 1 through 4

 

4= 100

3= 90

2= 80

1= 70

 

Any student may upgrade their shop task by:

1. Teaching another student or student’s task, the student has already

Successfully completed.

2. Repeating the task.

3. Completion of a live job on a customer’s car.

All Automotive areas are divided into Performance Objectives. (Series of Automotive tasks)

When a Performance Objective is completed Students are required to take a written test on each performance objective.

When a score of 85 is obtained, the student is then allowed to move on to the next Performance objective.

AUTOMOTIVE GRADE:

Shop tasks - 50% of the grade.

Written test - 25% of the grade.

Edited notes, journals written & oral reports - 15% of the grade.

Proper care of Tools - 10% of the grade.

 

TECHNICAL ENGLISH GRADE:
NATEF APPLIED ACEADEMICS

Edited notes, written reports, daily plans, and work orders, step by step instructions.

APPLIED MATH GRADE:

Completion of Math (NATEF Applied Academics) required for each area.

APPLIED SCIENCE GRADE:

Completion of NATEF APPLIED ACADEMICS required for each area.

Second, Third and fourth semester students must compete at least two ASE areas, from the following list, for each semester.

Tri tech Skills center will furnish the tools and equipment necessary for completion of shop tasks.

Students will be issued a toolbox that they will share with one or two other students. The students will sign for the tools and be responsible for them.

The tools will be clean and neatly arranged in their proper place at all times.

Students will inventory their boxes at the start and end of each shop session.

Students will take turns as tool room person and will be responsible for checking tools in and out.

Students will take part in shop clean up and they will keep their work area clean and neat.

Tool responsibility will be graded as part of the shop tasks.
